Book Review: Fearless: The Undaunted Courage and Ultimate Sacrifice of Navy SEAL Team SIX Operator Adam Brown

Fearless: The Undaunted Courage and Ultimate Sacrifice of Navy SEAL Team SIX Operator Adam Brown by Eric Blehm

I can't believe that I forgot to write a review about this wonderful book!  It is one of my favorite reads.  So, let's just pretend that I posted this in a timely manner and you can run out and get this book for a Christmas present for the reader in your life.

When I first got this book to read I thought I'd have to trudge through a typical military book.  You know the kind, full of tactics and maneuver details.  Not really my kind of read.  I'm more of a motivational or emotional reader.  Boy was my fear misguided.  This story hits you right smack in the middle of your emotional center and motivates you to become a better person.

Mr. Blehm does an excellent job of letting us get to know the "real" person that was Adam Brown. We get to see him as an adventurous youth.  The type that you may see on the streets today and think that they will amount to nothing good.  We are shown how God worked in Adam's life. God used those traits that typically we see as bad, and used them for the utmost good.

We are also given access to the romance between Adam and his wife and the love of his entire family.  He was a man who lived large on all fronts.  Even though his children didn't get to know him for long, I'm sure that the time spent with them was true quality time.  It really drives home the sacrifice that the families of soldiers make along with the soldiers themselves.

In the end, the book does tell us of the military campaigns that Adam Brown took part.  It gives us a taste of the horrible conditions in which these brave men had to live and fight.  I'm certain that even reading of them can not give an accurate depiction of the amount of fortitude it takes to be a Navy SEAL.

Everyone should give this book a chance.  It is a truly wonderful story about a honorable man and the sacrifices he and his family made for our American way of life.  I just wish that we deserved such willingness.
